Read / Write Heads - are used to convert binary data to electromagnetic pulses. While writing to the disk or the reverse when reading. In short, the head is used to read and write data to the diskette.
Head Actuator - device that physically positions the read/write head over the correct track on the surface of the disk.
Spindle Motor - is what spins the floppy drive when it is in the drive. When you insert the disk, clamps that are attached to the spindle motor, grasp and turns the disk as it spins.
Logic board – controlling the internal parts of the drive (read/write heads, the spindle motor, head actuator and other components.) and also assisting as an interface between the internal parts and the floppy drive controller.
Disk Sensor - a special sensor and a signal on the floppy cable that lets tells the floppy controller when a disk is to be ejected and a new one to be inserted. |
