Given that most new PCs come with CD or DVD writers these days it's astonishing that manufacturers don't always provide a full set of tools to help the computer owner get the best from their machine. With Sonic MyDVD Media Suite 4.0, Adaptec have bundled a set of applications to cover just about every eventuality. The MyDVD of the product title is slightly misleading as the package also deals quite happily with common CD-Rs and CD-RWs; there's a whole assortment of programs here to keep the budding burner happy.
Sonic MyDVD Media Suite 4.0 provides a little bit of something for everyone, from the actual burning software through to DVD playback, music recorders, video editors, a disc copier, a label creator and a utility that allows the user to drag and drop files to a CD/DVD from Windows. Sonic MyDVD Media Suite 4.0 even allows the creation of basic DVD menus so your completed creation will play happily on a home player or PC. The only part of the puzzle missing is some form of capture hardware that must be purchased separately, but if you need an all-in-one solution for backups and presentations of holiday videos then this is certainly worth a look. --Chris Russell
